Why Give - Who We Help
The CVC Foundation is working to protect the health and well-being of the flora and fauna, the watershed and its inhabitants for today and tomorrow.
For our 750,000 watershed residents, the health of the river is critical for personal health, wellbeing and quality of life. The Credit River is a source of drinking water as it flows into Lake Ontario; a source of enjoyment for its recreational value and; a significant source of natural capital value.
For our other inhabitants, the flora and fauna, the health of the river and the local environment is critical for existence.
The Credit River is home to a wide range of wildlife including 244 species of birds, 64 fish species, 41 species of mammals, 5 species of turtles, 8 kinds of snakes, 17 amphibians (frogs, toads, salamanders & newts) and 1330 species of plants.
As a result of urban development, the watershed population is expected to double by 2020. This means that we need to act now to protect tomorrow.
With your support the Foundation will continue to provide Landscapes for Life for generations to come.
