History
In 1964, CVC established the CVC Foundation to support its activities. Since then the Foundation has been assisting CVC with the daunting task of environmental protection.
The CVC Foundation has provided financial support and helped:
- Transform Rattray Marsh Conservation Area into a Living Discovery Centre
- Complete 6.5 km of wheelchair accessible trail at Island Lake Conservation Area
- The Conservation Youth Corps (CYC) plant 10,000 trees every summer in the Credit River Watershed
- Install 20 CVC / Greenbelt roadside signs on major roads
- Purchase two Stewardship on the Go Trailers
- Plant 425 trees along Black Creek south of Georgetown
- Introduce a Butterfly Garden along the Glassford Trail in Meadowvale
- Maintain and improve the Elora Cataract Trailway and its amenities through the Hillsburgh-Erin section of the trail
- Install memorial benches at conservation areas
- Support the educational goals of three deserving students through the award of education bursaries
- Raise the profile of CVC through two annual signature events, Conservation Gala and Canoe the Credit
